Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. Mitchell travelled together with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate issues like and the Iran Contra scandal.
